Leisurely cyclist at Lake Faak in the quiet off-season

The quiet cycling season

Why not in high summer?

In high summer, everything at Lake Faak revolves around swimming – understandable given the turquoise water and temperatures of up to 28 degrees. For cycling, however, the cooler, clearer days of the shoulder seasons are often more pleasant: less bustle on the paths, mild temperatures and a landscape that glows fresh in early summer and golden in autumn.

On top of that comes the practical benefit: prices are lower in the off-season. To find out what else defines the quiet season, read our overview Off-season at Lake Faak.

Question 1 · The best months

Which months are best for cycling?

Broadly speaking: spring and early autumn – when it's mild but not too hot.

Question 2 · Leisurely cycling & e-bike

What does a relaxed cycling day in the off-season look like?

Leisurely cycling means: short, lovely routes rather than chasing kilometres. A ride on the flat Lake Faak cycle loop, a break with a lake view and, in the afternoon, time on the southern shore. With an e-bike, even the gentle climbs all around are effortless – and overnight your bike sits in the lockable bike room with charging.

Anyone wanting to venture further uses the quieter paths towards the Drau Cycle Path or the bike buses via the Erlebnis CARD. In the evening, the Lakeside Restaurant right on the water invites you to stop in.
