Why the early & late season

The off-season at Lake Faak – the loveliest time for connoisseurs

Outside the main holidays, Lake Faak shows its most relaxed side: pleasant temperatures, quiet paths and the beach almost to yourself. Those who travel in May, June, September or October experience the "Caribbean of the Alps" without the high-season bustle – ideal for couples and anyone travelling flexibly around the weather.

In the early and late seasons a holiday at Lake Faak is not only quieter but also considerably more affordable than in high season – and the water stays pleasantly warm from early summer into autumn. On this page you will find an honest guide for every day: in sunshine as in rain.

Fair-weather programme

Cycling, hiking, the lake – an active holiday in the early & late season

Spring and autumn are considered the best time to be active at Lake Faak: pleasant temperatures instead of summer heat, clear views and quiet paths. Carinthia has one of the densest cycle-path networks in Austria – from the flat mountain-bike loop around Lake Faak to challenging climbs. E-bikes have a covered shelter with a charging station and a lockable room at the hotel.

Hikers can set off straight away: the Mittagskogel (2,145 m) rises just behind the hotel, and the Lake Faak circular walking trail leads all the way around the shore. And on warm days the lake itself beckons – with drinking-water quality and a water temperature of up to 28 degrees, it invites you to swim from early summer into autumn.

Relaxation & peace at the lake

Wellness begins by the water

The greatest relaxation in the off-season is the peace itself: a walk along the quiet shore, a book on the reserved lounger at the private beach, the view across the turquoise-green water to the mountains. Here you will find plenty of space to reconnect with yourself and leave all everyday cares behind.

If you long for warmth and water treatments, you can reach the KärntenTherme in Warmbad-Villach in next to no time – ideal especially for cooler autumn days. You will find all the details in our bad-weather programme.
